I used to just read it in various books and magazines, but now it’s happening to me! My children are growing up and slowly having lives of their own that last night as I drove down the road after dropping my son off to his activity, I realized that sooner or later I will have to learn to let go.

And then I imagined how it must’ve been like for our Heavenly Parents to let each of us go as we individually came down here on earth. The feeling must’ve been similar to the feeling I had when I sent my children off to school the very first time. I knew they needed the education, but I still missed them the entire day. And I looked forward to the end of the day when I could pick them up again and ask them how their day had been.

Can you imagine how our reunion with our Heavenly Parents would be like at the end of our stay?

Parenthood is such a unique and amazing experience that I cannot even begin to compare it with anything I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. It is the closest one could ever get to the meaning of pure love. It has made me understand more fully what selfless service means and gave me a tiny glimpse of the kind of love our Savior must’ve had for us that He was willing to take upon Himself the pain of our sins so that we won’t suffer the excruciating pain ourselves.

It means loving the children that were entrusted to us by giving them space to grow, and allowing them to make mistakes and learn from them. It means celebrating the joys of their successes and feeling the hurt in our own heart when they experience diverse heartaches. It means wanting them to reach heights we’ve never even reached before and praying daily for their protection. It means allowing them to be their own person and stepping back so they may shine.

What a wonderful privilege it is to be a parent!! And every single day I thank God for the blessings it brings into my life. 🙂

For a long time in our cupboard, we had some chocolate balls and tablets that some friends gave us as treats from their vacation trips elsewhere. I tried cooking them once, but I simply am not a good cook, so it didn’t turn out the way I imagined it. The chocolate lumps just didn’t go away even after what seemed to be an eternity of boiling. It was a very unpleasant experience drinking it with all the bitter chocolate lumps getting in the way! 🙂 So I gave up! I thought there were other instant chocolate drinks out there that didn’t even need cooking, so why bother? My family went back to the basics and left those chocolate balls and tablets alone in the cupboard. 🙂

Then I met this friend who just loves cooking all sorts of food! While I prefer cooking easy recipes, she prefers making things from scratch and blesses me and my family with her gourmet dishes! 🙂 And yes, you guessed it right!! 🙂 She finally cooked the intimidating group of chocolate balls and tablets for us yesterday! 🙂

My daughter said after her first sip of the good-smelling hot chocolate: “Mom, we didn’t know what we had.” And I agreed with her! That cup of hot chocolate was one of the best I’ve ever had! 🙂 We almost missed the opportunity of being able to enjoy its aroma and flavor because I wasn’t willing to invest time and effort on learning how to cook it! I gave up on it way too soon.

As we enjoyed our hot chocolate last night, my daughter and I discussed several lessons we’ve learned out of this experience. 🙂 She said that sometimes we don’t realize the value of something and we take it for granted, until we lose it. And as for me, I realized that some things worth having need a bit of hard work and patience to acquire. 🙂

Here’s wishing you’ll all enjoy a great cup of hot chocolate today!!! 🙂

Have you ever prayed for something for so long that you almost gave up on the thought of ever receiving it? And just when you were about to abandon all expectations of ever obtaining what you’ve petitioned for, you unexpectedly get it!! 🙂

Well, it happened to me many times before and it happened again most recently!! 🙂

There are times in our lives when we plead for something so desperately that we want to receive the answer to our prayers right away—as in, now. We sometimes even make promises to our Heavenly Father thinking that it might influence His decision on how soon He would grant our request.

But we should keep in mind that when we pray, the answer may not always be ‘yes.’ He may opt to say ‘no,’ especially when He knows that what we’re asking for will have a negative impact in our lives. Even those that seem positive—such as prosperity—may become a challenge to some people who may not be able to handle it.

But there are times when He gives us an opportunity to expand our souls by making us patiently wait for the blessings we desire to have. These are the defining moments of our lives—when we can practice patience and faith as we trust that He knows better than us.

About a year ago, I was looking for something so bad that I did everything I could possibly do to find it. But for some reason beyond my comprehension, I just didn’t find what I was looking for. Months have passed and it seemed that all my search efforts have come to naught.

One day, I finally decided that I would just accept the situation and do without it. And just as I was getting comfortable with my plan on how I would handle it, a miracle happened and I was finally granted what I was pleading for!! 🙂

It’s amazing how His timetable works!!! 🙂  I have no idea what I did that made me finally qualify to receive such a wonderful blessing, but I finally received it! YayYyY!!! 🙂 And I didn’t even have to look for it anymore!! 🙂 It just sort of magically appeared in front of me; right under my very nose! 🙂 His ways are really amazing and I am most grateful!! 🙂 I must’ve done something really good to deserve this particular blessing and I hope to continue to keep myself worthy of it.

I wish that you would all be granted the righteous desires of your heart! I know that all our prayers are being heard, and that they are all being answered—sometimes immediately, but other times we just have to wait. 🙂
